On February 9, we celebrated Mom's first birthday in Charleston! We stepped outside for a brief photo before heading to lunch at the Hominy Grill (yum), and I was singing to try to get Owen to look at the camera. I love this photo for two reasons:1) Owen is making his "sing sign." This is when he bunches his fingers together and twists his fist to let you know that he would like a song, please. Or another song, please. It originated as the hand motion from "The Wheels on the Bus" when the baby goes "wah wah wah," and he turned it into the sign for song requests in general. When he's really serious, he uses both hands.
2)You can see the sheer joy that Owen brings his Grama. Pretty good birthday present, huh? He's the gift that keeps on giving.
